Many interventions focus on lifting families out of poverty by focusing either on early childhood education or economic/employment assistance for parents. A two-generation approach is needed to help mothers and children overcome barriers to success and break the intergenerational cycle of poverty in which they find themselves.
New Life Directions Ministries aims to lift single parents and their children out of poverty through a Two Generation Approach that focuses on providing stable housing, life coaching, case management, job placement, and financial assistance for mothers while providing high-quality early childhood education for their children.
We are currently serve over 200 single families annually, through transitional housing and wrap-around services.
As participants move toward financial stability and learn positive parental strategies through our trauma-informed educational approaches that prepare them for success in school. Participants in turn, will be able to confidently pursue further education, training or gainful employment knowing that their children are not only well-cared for, but getting the best possible early childhood education designed with their specific needs in mind.
These interventions coupled with a community of single mothers in adjacent units will provide families with a sense of belonging and a support system to encourage their continued success.
