Our History
In September 2005, Tena went on a mission trip to Nicaragua that changed her whole perspective on life. Tena went to Nicaragua to help those that she thought needed help. But the person that was truly helped was her.
Tena's eyes were opened to the desperate need that we have right here in America in our own backyards.

Below is a timeline of God's journey for Tena and the beginning of New Life Directions Ministries, Inc.
1982-2005 - Tena grew in the Lord and served in several areas within the church
September 2005 – Tena's mission Trip to Nicaragua
October 2005 - Tena dedicated her life to God for the life purpose that He has for her and began diligently seeking his guidance for what that was.
May 2006 – Founded New Life Maternity Haven, Inc a training resource center for teen parents in Leitchfield, Kentucky.
February 2007 - Commissioned as a Mission Service Corps Missionary by the North American Mission Board.
January 2014 - Tena dedicated her life to full time ministry serving single parent families in response to God’s call on her life.
June 2015 - The nonprofit organization was renamed New Life Directions Ministries, Inc and was relocated to Louisville, Kentucky.
November 2018 - Opened Lydia’s House of Hope on Story Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky to provide residential opportunities for homeless single mothers and their children.
October 2019 - Opened the Berry Boulevard House in Louisville, Kentucky to provide residential opportunities for homeless single mothers and their children.
August 2020 - Opened Louisville Single Moms Training Center on Dixie Highway in Louisville, Kentucky to provide both residential opportunities and educational programs for single moms and their children throughout the community.
